Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 22, 2026
SpikeSearch ("we", "us", or "our") operates www.spikesearch.com. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect when you visit our site, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it. By using SpikeSearch you agree to the practices described in this policy.
1. Information We Collect
We do not require you to create an account or provide any personal information to use SpikeSearch. The following data is collected automatically when you visit the site:
- Usage data: Pages visited, time spent, referral source, browser type, device type, and general geographic location (country/city level). This is collected via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity.
- Cookies: Small text files placed on your device by our analytics providers (see Section 3). We do not set first-party cookies ourselves.
- Search queries: If you use the on-site search feature, your query is processed server-side to return results. We do not store individual search queries against any identifier.
- Contact information: If you contact us by email, we retain your email address and the content of your message in order to respond.
2. How We Use Information
The information collected is used to:
- Understand how visitors use the site so we can improve it
- Identify and fix technical errors
- Monitor traffic patterns and content performance
- Respond to enquiries sent directly to us by email
We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with third parties for marketing purposes.
3. Analytics & Cookies
We use the following third-party analytics tools:
Google Analytics
We use Google Analytics to collect aggregated data about site traffic and user behaviour. Google Analytics sets cookies (including _ga and _gid) to distinguish users. Data is processed by Google LLC in accordance with their Privacy Policy. You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
Microsoft Clarity
We use Microsoft Clarity to record anonymised session replays and heatmaps that help us understand how users interact with the site. Clarity may collect mouse movements, clicks, and scroll behaviour. No personally identifiable information is captured. Data is processed by Microsoft Corporation in accordance with their Privacy Statement.
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Doing so may affect the functionality of some websites but will not affect your use of SpikeSearch, as we do not require cookies to display content.
4. Third-Party Services
SpikeSearch is powered by the following third-party services. Each operates under its own privacy policy:
- Sanity.io — our content management system, used to store and serve trend data.
- Anthropic (Claude AI) — used server-side to generate trend analysis. No visitor data is passed to Anthropic; only the trending keyword itself is sent to generate analysis copy.
- Google Trends — the source of raw trending keyword data, pulled daily via automated pipeline.
We do not control and are not responsible for the privacy practices of these third-party services.
5. Affiliate Links
Some pages on SpikeSearch may contain affiliate links — links to third-party products or services from which we may earn a commission if you make a purchase, at no additional cost to you. These links are disclosed where they appear with the note "Articles may contain affiliate links."
Clicking an affiliate link will take you to a third-party website. We have no control over the content or privacy practices of those sites and recommend you review their privacy policies.
6. Data Retention
Analytics data collected via Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity is retained in accordance with each provider's default retention settings (typically 14 months for Google Analytics). Email correspondence is retained for as long as is reasonably necessary to resolve your enquiry.
7. Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights in relation to your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of any personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request that inaccurate information be corrected.
- Deletion: Request that we delete personal information we hold about you, where we are not required to retain it.
- Objection / opt-out: Object to the processing of your information for analytics purposes (see Section 3 for opt-out links).
Australian residents are protected under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs). European residents may have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the details in Section 9.
8. Children's Privacy
SpikeSearch is not directed at children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.
